“The Galaxy Brain Experience” is an ambitious project that combines hip-hop music, chamber music, animation, and dance. The 45-minute original story follows Astris on her psychedelic journey into space. Whether traveling on a rocket, through a black hole, or a maze, she learns to love herself despite her mental illness.
Our Story
The Galaxy Brain Experience premiered April 15th, 2023 as a Music for New Media capstone performance at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. The production has been in motion since the fall of 2022 and involves members of Galaxy Brain, ZBRI Dance Ensemble, our animator who is a student from MICA, and individuals pulled together for a Chamber Music ensemble. The premiere performance was attended by over 70 people.
In October 2023, the show was invited to be a part of the Charm City Fringe Festival. It showed for 5 nights at LeMondo in Baltimore City. It won Audience Choice Award for 2023!
